What do you get when you combine one bored mama, an antsy toddler, and a yard that serves no real purpose? A dirt kitchen, obviously.
Truth be told, it was really me being sick of sidewalk chalk and bubbles. The sandbox was cool for 3 months, but she’s no longer occupied by that, and the water table is a no go for obvious reasons this time of year.
I had been mad at myself all summer for not doing anything with the yard - yet again. But this past weekend I was quite relieved that I hadn’t. Who knew our neglected garden would create such a new and fascinating environment?
She’s been making “soup” for hours on end.
My Pinterest board would lead you to believe that I had extravagant plans for a dirt kitchen. You know, one with countertops, dedicated dirt muffin tins, and dare I say, running water.
Alas, I “created” this one on a whim and I am certain she has no clue other kids get dishwashers and fine china with their custom built dirt kitchens.

Break up the dirt.
