Sunday Love || Lakewood, Ohio Pet Photography

As cliche as it may be, Sunday's are my favorite day of the week. For no reason other than my idealistic perfect setting. In my dream world, Sunday's mean homemade brunch, gardening, sipping wine tea in a hammock while reading a book, and listening to the birds sing. This is the fantasy that originally had me hooked on Sunday - I always thought that someday this would be my reality. But my reality is even better. I have always, and most likely will always, spend most of my Sunday's working. It is what it is. But come Sunday evening, it's just my three favorite boys and I hanging out in the backyard, playing soccer and indulging in vino. A perfect way to end the week or start a new one - whichever way you like to look at it.

Huntington Beach, Bay Village || Lake Erie Love

I could sit and stare at the lake all day everyday. Spring, summer, fall, winter. It doesn't even matter. I was down at the beach yesterday morning for a portrait session and I as my toes hit the sand, I just stood there in awe. I couldn't think of a more perfect morning or a more perfect scene. In fact, for a moment there, I was speechless. How people live away from a body of water is beyond me. I can't imagine not being within walking distance of such a natural wonder.

It's the little things in life, such as a quite morning at the lake, that I hope I never stop appreciating.

Vintage Cakes // The Classic Cake with Brown Butter Frosting

blog-1Today was a gloomy, gloomy day here in Cleveland. The sun did come through a few times here and there but every time I'd allow my hopes for sunshine rise, a gust of wind came through with pouring rain and lingering dark clouds. So I baked a cake. A few weeks ago I picked up Julie Richardson's book, Vintage Cakes, at Anthropologie. I made the Cassata Cake the day I bought it (which was amazing), and in honor of Ryan's Birthday (albeit, 2 days ago) I decided to try the Classic Cake and pair it with the Brown Butter Frosting. I'm going to just try and not think about the amount of calories that are in it ;)blog-3blog-2

A Love Affair Workshop + BHLDN Styled Wedding Shoot

A  lot has happened in the past year. I got married, I quit my day job, my husband quit his and now this is all becoming so real. Truth be told, I fell into a bit of a rut. I wasn't really sure where I wanted to go with my photography and what my ultimate goal was with my career. This winter was a nice break and a nice reality check. As I no longer had a second job, it meant my "down time" with photography was actually some down time! I was able to step back and really look at the big picture. What do I really want to focus on? Where do I really want to go with all of this? When I saw that two of my favorite wedding photographers were hosting a workshop, I immediately jumped on board. Lauren and Tim are insanely talented and honestly, I was just excited to be able to meet them! But to sit down with them, and take in everything they had to offer was more than I ever could have asked for. It was just the boost I needed to finally step forward and embrace who and what I truly want to be and become. They are living proof that when you set the bar high and go after what you want, things will indeed fall into place. When you focus on yourself and stop worrying about what others are doing or have done, it's amazing the things you can accomplish.

On top of soaking up as much as I could from Lauren and Tim, I also had the pleasure of spending the day with 8 other fabulous photographers, who I am so excited to have met. It's amazing being around others who have the same passion and outlook on life. To feed off of each other instead of comparing was so incredibly refreshing. On top of hanging out with all these talented people, I also got to shoot a Styled Wedding that was out of this world! (Though trying to shoot with 9 others doing the same was a whole new challenge!)

So, enough rambling. Thank you to Lauren Fair Photography for the amazing workshop, amazing shoot, and for introducing me to so many wonderful ladies! With wedding season beginning in just a few weeks, it was just what I needed!
